Investigation into the bioavailability of synthesized phytosterol esters in vitro and in vivo using Caco-2 cell model and Wistar rats

Phytosterols are bioactive components capable of reducing the level cholesterol in serum. In this study, phytosterol acetic ester (PA), oleate (PO) and linoleic (PL) were synthesized from (PS) organic acid to improve solubility phytosterols oil. The purities PA, PO PL 98.4, 95.9 95.7%, respectively. Caco-2 cell monolayers Wistar rats used research bioavailability esters (PE) vitro vivo. Experiments using monolayer model showed that transport mechanism was passive transport. vivo PS content rat blood reached highest at 3 h, with a value 21.82 μg/mL. liver 43.65 μg/g. Bioavailability is highest, reaching as high 19.57%. Acute study concentration safe level, it had no side effects for health. conclusion, better than PS, have more advantages application.
